Have A Relaxing And Memorable Stay
In This Beautiful Part Of The Country

      Activities

This is wonderful walking country, with the fells of The Lake District, Howgills and Yorkshire Dales all close by. For the less energetic there are some lovely gentle rambles in the Lune Valley and around Morecambe Bay. We are very happy to suggest walks, and if required these can be tailored to include a lunchtime pub stop. We have lots of walking books and maps of the area which guests are welcome to borrow. If you are planning a day on the fells we can provide a packed lunch.

However there is much much more to do in the area and here are just a few ideas:-

GOLF: Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club is one of the most picturesque courses in the North West of England, and welcomes visitors.

FISHING: There is good fishing on the River Lune and we can arrange weekly permits. (Alternatively a one day permit on the River Rawthay, a tributary of the Lune).

BIRD WATCHING: Leighton Moss, near Morecambe Bay, is the largest reedbed in North West England, and is well known for its special birds.

HOT AIR BALLOONING: Flights can be arranged over the stunning Lakeland Scenery, with High Adventure.

COUNTRY HOUSES & GARDENS: These include Levens Hall, the Elizabethan stately home with its fantastic topiary gardens; Blackwell, an Arts and Crafts House near the shores of Lake Windermere; Holker Hall and Motor Museum at Cark-in-Cartmel.

Dove Cottage, Wordsworth’s house near Grasmere; Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin on Coniston Water; Hill Top House, near Hawkshead, where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her stories (also The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windermere).

STEAM TRAINS: Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway at Newby Bridge, and the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway close to some of the most stunning Lakeland scenery.

ART GALLERIES; The Abbot Hall Gallery in Kendal is one of the best outside London.
